Pessimist
DVLA
Pessimist is Bristol-based Kristian Jabs, a dark and deep techno and drum & bass minimalist with credits on the likes of AD93 Blue and Blackest Ever Black. He brings his touch of class to Munich's Ilian Tape ITX Series here and kicks off with the thrilling breakbeats of 'E-Style', which is lithe and urgent. 'The Crawlers Type 2' is a more wild and crashing workout with a real snap in its tail, then 'DVLA' drives onwards with eerie shadows and distant synths that keep you on edge as the precision drums land heavy. 'That Sound' shuts down with the most textured and arresting sound of the lot to close what is a high-class dancefloor assault.
